The Official Receiver does not close bank accounts. If they are closed, it’s done by the banks. If the bankrupt person owes money to a bank where they have their account, typically that account will be closed by the bank. However, there’s no strict rule about this. It all depends on the bank’s policy.

Even if the bank closes the account, the bankrupt individual can go to another bank and open a new account. They just need to inform the new bank about their bankruptcy status.
